The album opens with a frenetic pace, showcasing the band's advanced degree in stankfacery through dissonant guitar weaving and unhinged vocal screams. However, the album falters in its second half, with tracks like Ignis Fatuus and Orphaned and Abandon losing momentum and becoming unmemorable. Despite this, the album has potential to stand alongside underground leaders of dissonant death metal, but needs to focus on consistently delivering impactful payouts to its dissonant atmosphere. Personally, I think that the album's strength lies in its ability to create a volatile and unpredictable listening experience, but its weaknesses lie in its lack of consistency and the addition of unnecessary elements like the saxophone solo in Glimpses of a Lost Horizon. In my opinion, the album's recommended tracks, The Black Sun, End Whispers, and The Last Refrain, are the highlights of the album, showcasing the band's potential to create a compelling and immersive listening experience. However, the album's final verdict of 6/10 reflects its mixed reception and the need for the band to refine their craft and focus on delivering a more consistent and impactful listening experience.
